NACON, Cyanide Studio and Leikir Studio unveiled the new gameplay trailer for Rogue Lords, which introduces a deep and very unique mechanic. In this turn-based roguelike, gamers play as the devil and can therefore play by different rules than their opponents.
In Rogue Lords, you play as the devil, who was defeated by demon hunters several years ago. To regain your power, your disciples – nine evil geniuses who have signed a pact with you – must seek out some legendary artefacts. To defeat your enemies, you must use your diabolical powers to cheat, in exchange for some of your Diabolic Essence. But be careful! If you use up all your essence, your run will end.
Combat
You will face demon hunters on your way to achieving your goal. These vile paragons of virtue stand in your way at every fight as part of one or more waves of enemies. If the health bar of one of your disciples is fully depleted, the disciple can still fight but is vulnerable. However, their death is not the only option: each time they take damage in this state, you can use some of your Diabolic Essence to protect them.
To avoid this critical situation, you can sacrifice some of your life’s essence beforehand to manipulate the health bars of your disciples and better withstand certain attacks. You can also do the same to the health bars of your enemies to weaken them. And your diabolical powers don’t end there! You can also steal buffs from your opponents or return debuffs to those who inflicted them. It’s up to you to defend enemy attacks and create devastating combos.
Interactive events
Your Diabolic Essence is also highly useful during interactive events. Your chances of success vary according to the actions required and the skills of your disciples. But by activating Devil Mode, you can tip the balance in your favour to obtain your preferred result and give mortals good reason to fear you. If successful, you can gain valuable bonuses for the rest of your run.
The map
With each run, the world map is randomly generated, and you will be offered several paths. You choose your route based on the events you want to trigger. But even when you have committed to a route, nothing is ever final for the devil. By sacrificing some of your essence, you can take secret paths to easily reach places with powers that can change the course of your quest.

Along the way, players develop cool tech, join a band of castaway pilots known as the Acorn Corps, confront hordes of hungry bugs, and help Annika uncover her true potential and embrace her legacy.

Having spent the last 12 months couped up in our houses, it’ll soon be time to collectively step out and breathe in the fresh air. Of course, that’s all before we strap two live fireworks to our tender bodies, propelling us up into the sky before we come crashing back down to the ground, landing in the open jaws of a handy shark who has taken refuge in a nearby river.
Oh wait. No. That’s Just Die Already – the old aged pensioner playground that Curve Digital and DoubleMoose has announced to be launching on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch as well as PC on Steam and Epic Games Store on Thursday May 20th, 2021.
If this is the first time you’ve heard about Just Die Already – and, given we’ve all had so little to do during the last year that even thankless tasks such as “reading a book” or “making conversation with a loved one” have almost seemed legitimate, we frankly find that hard to believe – then hold onto your dentures: Just Die Already tells the tale of old folk who have just been kicked out of their retirement homes, competing with each other to secure a sweet spot some place new by performing dangerous challenges to qualify for free care.
Players can either take on Just Die Already alone or compete in four-player online multiplayer (fully cross-platform too, thanks to Epic Online Services), ticking off dangerous challenges that put your life – and, indeed, every atom of your being – in danger. You’ll lose limbs getting eaten by sharks, you’ll break every single one of your bones, you’ll get squished and squashed and shot to pieces and, if you’re lucky, you’ll stay alive long enough to earn your place at a prized retirement home.
“Just Die Already might be a fictional tale of OAPs competing for spots in retirement homes, but given the folks in those homes have food & drink, company, and – most importantly – haircuts on tap, I’m starting to think I should join then,” offers DoubleMoose co-founder Armin Ibrisagic. “Seriously, after a year of COVID-dodging, there’s not a single person in a retirement home who doesn’t look younger and fresher than anyone at DoubleMoose. At least we can now take on the comparatively sprightly forms of Just Die Already’s cast of characters when the game launches on May 20th.”

With no surprise, New Pokemon Snap tops the UK physical games chart in the UK. Its reported that New Pokemon Snap launch is four times bigger than the original. New Pokemon Snap is the third biggest launch for the Nintendo Switch behind Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury (Read our review here) and Monster Hunter Rise this year.
Sony’s new IP Returnal debuts in 2nd place in the charts. The reviews have been good for Returnal, yet sales proves that it has under performed against other top PlayStation triple A games. Is it because of the shortages of PS5’s available? It’s a likely cause.
However, it isn’t looking good for Nier Replicant remastered. Nier debuted at No. 1 last week but has fallen all the way down to 22 with a 78% drop in sales.

Mediatonic have announced that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout has been delayed for the Nintendo Switch and Xbox. Initially slated for Summer 2021; the developer wants to use this delay to add features like crossplay.
Meanwhile Mediatonic is working on new Seasonal content releases, fresh Shows, Costumes, Rounds, and much more.
Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) announced today that Elite Dangerous: Odyssey, the highly anticipated new era for Elite Dangerous, releases on 19 May for Windows PC via Steam, the Epic Games Store and FrontierStore.net.
Prospective Commanders can pre-order the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey expansion with an SRP of £29.99/$39.99/€34.99. The Deluxe Alpha expansion pack is still available, with an SRP of £39.99/$54.99/€46.99. This includes the Odyssey expansion, access to the ongoing Alpha phase ending on 30 April, and the official soundtrack. Both pre-order packs grant access to the exclusive Pioneer suit skin as a pre-order bonus.
Odyssey constitutes the most ambitious Elite Dangerous expansion to date, delivering on the promise of allowing Commanders to explore atmospheric planets on foot for the first time, taking on new missions, and engaging in intense tactical combat, expanding Elite Dangerous’ gameplay from the iconic cockpit experience players have come to know and love over the last seven years.

Frontier Developments plc (AIM: FDEV) announced today the start of the third phase of the Elite Dangerous: Odyssey PC Alpha. The Alpha, accessible since 29 March, is available for Lifetime Expansion Pass owners and players who have pre-ordered the Odyssey Deluxe Alpha expansion pack. The Odyssey Alpha will be updated to include the new content today at 2:30pm BST.
The third stage of the Odyssey Alpha continues to expand the playable portion of the galaxy to 50 light years and moves focus towards the exploration of undiscovered planets and the Exobiology career path. Additionally, Commanders will finally experience the coveted “First Footfall” moments within the Alpha, when they set foot on a previously uncharted planet for the first time.
