It’s been 7 years since the release of Bayonetta 2 on the WiiU and 3 years since we first had a glimpse of Bayonetta 3. Remember this?
Well, in a recent interview with VGC, Hideki Kamiya was asked about when they would be willing to share new details about Bayonetta 3. The vague response was as follows:
It’s not really our position to say, but… it’s January. We’ve got to have something come out, right? I guess it’s safe to expect that something will come out. There’s still a lot of the year left is what I’m saying.
When he was asked what type of update this “something” could be, he said:
I understand it’s driving the fans crazy! In light of that, my suggestion would be that maybe we should all reset and forget about Bayonetta 3. Then when something finally does happen, it will be a nice surprise, won’t it?
So, basically, we might get a new trailer this year…
Takahisa Taura, who’d been working as a designer for over a decade was given the role of director for Astral Chain.
Taura recalls his distress while developing Astral Chain in a recent interview in Famitsu. Hideki Kamiya from PlatinumGames provided him the guidance he needed.
Here’s part of the interview:
Did you have any fear or worry that you wouldn’t get another chance on something if [Astral Chain] didn’t sell well?
Taura: Yes, a little. For example, during development when something didn’t turn out to my absolute liking, I really started to panic. Kamiya really gave me his shoulder to lean on when that happened, but I don’t think I’ve ever felt a sense of distress like that before.
Taro: When was that?
Taura: That was when we were trying to nail down the action mechanics. Kamiya gathered all the things we had tried and tossed out or forgot about, and piece by piece it turned into something really great.
Astral Chain was released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019 and sold over a million copies worldwide.

Platinum games developer, Hideki Kamiya was speaking to Famitsu, telling fans not to worry about Bayonetta 3, despite a 3 year silence.
“There are many people who are worried about Bayonetta 3 because there has been no new information since its original announcement, but the verification of new systems has been successful and the development is proceeding smoothly, so please don’t worry,” he said.
