Team17 is today launching the latest entry in the Worms franchise, Worms Rumble, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC, bringing fast-paced, real-time action to the award-winning series for the very first time. Today’s launch debuts with three maps: Missile Mall, Portal Park, and Transforming Towers, with free additional content and updates set for release over the coming weeks and months. This opening salvo of content delivers three modes: Deathmatch (which also allows players to queue as a party with their friends) and solo & team-based variants of battle royale (Last Worm Standing and Last Squad Standing) in matches containing up to 32 players.

As announced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Worms Rumble is immediately available for free on both PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 during December as part of PlayStation Plus, so subscribers can download the game and jump straight into the action-packed arenas. They’ll also have the option of taking part in crossplay battles with PC players on Steam. Worms are fully customisable, with options to play in a variety of outfits and weapons skins, which are unlocked through level progression and the use of in-game currency.

Players who want to spice up their outfit collection further can also purchase two downloadable content collections, the Action All-Stars Pack and the Legends Pack. The Action All-Stars include variants of a ninja, superhero, and wizard, while the Legends Pack has sheep, donkey, skunk, pigeon, cow, and retro commando outfits in various colours and styles. Worms Rumble is available to PC players either directly from the Team17 Store or via Steam.

Worms Rumble Key Features:

  • Real-time, frantic, 32-player action: Worms Rumble makes history as the first game in the series to introduce real-time strategic combat and object destruction
  • Get more targets with crossplay matchmaking: Whether on PS4, PS5, or PC, players can battle against players from all other platforms
  • Make your Worm its own: No Worms game would be complete without cosmetics and personalisation, ranging from outfits and hats, to skins for your Worm and weapons they wield
  • Lock and load your arsenal: Crates across the maps contain a host of weapons and items, including fan favourites like the Sheep Launcher, Holy Hand Grenade, and Grapple Gun.

Nintendo Switch Updated to Version 11.0.0

The Nintendo Switch has e new firmware rolling out and it features a ton of new features, including prioritising which games are being downloaded and transferring screenshots and videos from your Switch to a smart device.

Here are the full patch notes:

Nintendo Switch Online was added to the HOME Menu.

A new feature that automatically downloads backed up save data was added to the Save Data Cloud.

  • When using software with the same Nintendo Account linked to multiple systems, save data backed up from one console will automatically be downloaded to your other system(s).
*To use this feature, it must be enabled under System Settings > Data Management > Save Data Cloud.
*Save data will not be downloaded automatically unless save data for that software exists on the console. The first time only, users must download the save data manually.
*A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required to use the Save Data Cloud service.

A new Trending feature was added to the User Page.

  • Users can check what software their friends are playing or have started playing recently.
Information will not be displayed for friends who have their online status set to display to no one.

Users can now transfer screenshots and videos from Album to their smart devices.

  • Users can wirelessly connect their smart devices to Nintendo Switch to transfer the screenshots and videos saved within their Album.
  • For screenshots, users can transfer a maximum of 10 screenshots and 1 video capture at once.
*To connect, users must use their smart device to scan the QR Code displayed on the Nintendo Switch screen.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
*“QR Code” is a registered trademark of DENSO WAVE INCORPORATED.

A new Copy to a Computer via USB Connection feature was added under System Settings > Data Management > Manage Screenshots and Videos.

  • Users can use a USB cable to connect Nintendo Switch to their computers to copy the screenshots and videos saved under Album.
    * A USB charging cable [model HAC-010] or a USB-IF certified USB cable that supports data transfer is required to connect to a computer.
For more information, please refer to the Nintendo Support website.
    * Connection via the Nintendo Switch dock is not supported. Please connect the Nintendo Switch system directly to the computer.

Users can now select what download to prioritize when there are multiple downloads in progress.

  • When there are multiple software, update data, or downloadable content downloads in progress, users can now select which they want to download first.
  • You can set this under Download Options by selecting the icon for the software you want to download first on the HOME Menu.

User icons were added.

  • 12 user icons that commemorate the 35th anniversary of the Super Mario Bros. series were added.

Users can now name preset button mappings with the Change Button Mapping feature.

Brazilian Portuguese was added as a supported language.

  • When users set their region to the Americas and their language to Português, the language used on the HOME Menu and in certain software will be displayed in Brazilian Portuguese.

Several issues were fixed, and usability and stability were improved.

Going Under Updated to Version 1.0.2

We’ve previously reviewed Going Under for the Nintendo Switch (it was good!). And there’s a new update live for the Nintendo Switch version. (The Steam version has already been updated.)

Here are the full patch notes:

  • Added an option to turn off the jitter effect in the menus (This was meant to be in to begin with whoops)
  • You can now control the menus with your controller’s D-pad
  • There is now a menu option to change between holding the trigger & pressing it to toggle Focus
  • Attempting to swap inventory slots while attacking or dodge rolling will now buffer the input and swap the weapon once the action ends
  • “Attack Speed Up” buff now improves the reload time of projectile-type weapons
  • Added an option to view the credits from the title menu
  • The dialogue before founder boss fights will now be skipped if you already have their share.
  • Added the option to invert the camera’s X-Axis control.
  • Enemies should no longer spawn so close to the player when they first enter a new combat room.
  • Screenshake algorithm has changed to have a smoother falloff and less intensity when smacking a bunch of environment objects. Try it out!
  • Confidence Juice and Tappi’s max-level mentor bonus now play music to let you know how long they last.
  • You can now date the Slime Hand in Winkydink. “Just like real life. -Nick”

Balance Changes:

  • Made earning 5 stars in the Styxcoin Event slightly more lenient
  • Nerfed the Rifle from 100 shots to 80
  • You can now use SelfCare+ at max HP and it will grant 2 armor instead of 1
  • Beggar Queen’s damage bonus has been reduced slightly, and no longer applies to unarmed attacks.
  • Purchase Protection now only triggers on cash purchases of $10 or more.
  • Fern’s vending machine will stop working after buying 3-6 cans.
  • Removed Upcycle+’s old “replacement” functionality and instead made it increase the size of the held item (to potentially hilarious effect)
  • Slime Hand’s scissor attack has been made a bit easier to avoid.
  • Extended the length of Retaliatory’s damage buff from 2 seconds to 3.
  • Fire Grates in Winkydink now turn off when the combat concludes.

Bug Fixes:

  • Fixed an issue where extra connected controllers would fail to function (and even some keyboards & mice from the future would cause this)
  • Fixed an issue where force closing the game during Ray’s “app announcement scene” could prevent apps from unlocking for the rest of the game
  • Prevented Eclaire from glitching into walls & floors
  • Fixed issue where walking Eclaire or possessing a debt ball would cause you to teleport around when riding a vehicle.
  • Fixed an issue where dollars wouldnt succ to Jackie if she was Downsized
  • Fixed an issue with a rare Winkydink room containing a weird hat with no weapon icon
  • Fixed an issue with the Resolution setting in the options where it would only say “1920×1080”
  • Fixed an issue where enemies wouldnt spawn in a certain room in Styxcoin
  • Fixed an issue where the options menu showed that the scroll wheel is how to Switch Focus Target on mouse/keyboard. The actual way is with the 1 and 2 keys.
  • Fixed an issue where the calculator would display as a 2 damage item but hit for 4.
  • Over-protective now works properly when used as a Pinned Skill
  • NPC’s names now appear properly in dialogue scenes
  • Steam achievements relating to completing mentorships now work properly. If you’ve already reached level 4 with a mentor and failed to get their achievement, completing a dungeon run (or just entering a dungeon and abandoning) should grant you the achievement.
  • Fixed an issue where using Ray’s max-level mentor bonus once would break it (and some other things) until the game was restarted
  • The Hauntrepreneur’s “shop” will now correctly sometimes spawn a briefcase full of cash instead of an empty slot
  • You can no longer chill on Swomp’s couch multiple times in the same run
  • The Styxcoin boss’s death explosion will no longer hurt the player
  • You can no longer exit Avie’s room once entering it
  • Added a failsafe that should prevent soft locks caused by frozen enemies never unfreezing
  • The briefcase in the Haunt’s garage will prompt the player to “Acquire” instead of “Buy” it
  • Prevented Kara’s max-level mentor app spawning while using a different mentor
  • Fixed a rare soft lock related to the Caffiend’s launch animation
  • Changed the way Canbassadors spawn in the Caffiend fight, and eliminated the issue where they occasionally fail to activate
  • Fixed an issue where Emotive would trigger from dodged/blocked damage, occasionally resulting in 1000 slimes spawning and crashing the game
  • Team Player now reacts properly to the player taking fire damage.
  • Prevented the player from defeating a boss and triggering the victory cutscene in the same frame as being defeated
  • Companions now set themselves to either side of Jackie instead of right on top of her when entering new rooms, preventing an issue where you could be shoved into the void by your companions in certain dungeons
  • Fixed an issue where only Forbidden Flavors would spawn once unlocked
  • Fixed an issue where using Swomp’s chill zone too much would break it permanently
  • Fixed an issue where the hurtboxes of Hover Hands’ hands were inaccurate.
  • Prevented an issue where completing a mentor level at the same time as getting the 3rd Share could soft lock game progress until restarted.
  • Fixed cubes turning bright white when opened.
  • Fixed an issue where picking up an app in a room that offered a choice between skills would despawn all the skills
  • Removed a brief moment where the game could be paused during the final cutscene
  • Removed a brief moment where the background would be visible after the credits ended
  • Fixed various dialogue typos

Animal Crossing New Horizons Sells 6 Million Physical Copies in Japan

ACNH has now become the fastest game in Japan to reach the 6 million physical sales milestone. Just last week Japan saw 37.290 physical copies being sold. These numbers are without the digital sales, so the exact amount of sales is probably through the roof.

Only 5 games have reached that milestone in Japan since New Super Mario Bros.

Explore and Conquer in The Unexpected Quest, OUT NOW on Steam!

PQube and developer Rionix have announced that The Unexpected Quest is OUT NOW on Steam!

The medieval settlement building and management adventure strands players in a foreign land with only one goal – conquer and settle within the wildly beautiful yet dangerous and mysterious landscape. Inspired by classics such as Warcraft III and The Settlers, The Unexpected Quest sets players out to embark on quests, hunt down treasures and manage your resources. Gather materials, build towns and armies, craft items, potions and more in your efforts to successfully dominate the land.

Check out the launch trailer:

The Unexpected Quest invites players to conquer the medieval landscape with nothing but guts, guile and god-like overhead command of dwarven forces! Build camps, build armies, unravel the mysteries of the snow-capped mountains, foul-stinking swamps and more through resource management, battle tactics and quests.

Here are some exclusive screenshots from Chapters 7 and 8, which are both longer and have new timed features and puzzles to challenge the player further!

Free the friendly mother of dragons from her imprisonment in Chapter 7!
Gather resources at your own peril: the fumes are toxic to your villagers without the right potion!
Between fire elementals, zombie mages and the Towers of Death, you have a lot of work before sieging the castle in Chapter 8!

Send units to investigate the furthest reaches of sprawling forests, buoyant bayous and snow-capped mountains as you discover a vast array of creatures, quests and resources!

Classic production buildings like sawmills and forges are essential to developing your town and resources, while quest-specific structures like bridges help you expand further out into the harsh terrain!

Hunt for resources in the rich and sprawling world; manage your food, gold and wood stocks to expand your kingdom and prepare for quests! Remember, no dwarf works on an empty stomach!

Hire experienced soldiers, upgrade their equipment, build a legion of formidable dwarfs and let them defend what you have built or search for magic items and other treasures!
