No More Heroes III for Switch delayed

Early this morning Goichi Suda (Director of No More Heroes 3) tweeted a message that the development of the announced game has been delayed.

Obviously the global pandemic has really hit their production schedule. Citing a focus on quality means the game will be released at a later date.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity Heading to Switch

In a surprise announcement Nintendo has just introduced a new Hyrule Warriors game. Set 100 years in the past in the world of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, this game lets you finally experience the events of the Great Calamity.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity will release on the 20th of November 2020. And if you preorder it via the Nintendo eShop you get a Lucky Ladle that can be used as an in-game bonus weapon for Link.

Interesting to note is that the Nintendo website also mentions Amiibo compatibility, though these haven’t been further specified.

Lastly, Ejij Anouma (producer of the Legend of Zelda series) mentioned that work on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was ongoing, so there’s also that.

Mario’s star keeps rising! Amazon has just released their list of best selling games of 2020 (so far) and Super Mario 3D All-Stars is already in second place. This is amazing considering it’s only been announced less than a week ago.

Amazon Top 10 Best Selling Games of 2020

  1. Animal Crossing New Horizons
  2. Super Mario 3D All-Stars
  3. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  4. The Last of Us Part II
  5. Minecraft
  6. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild
  7. Ring Fit Adventure
  8. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
  9. Paper Mario: The Origami King
  10. Luigi’s Mansion 3

The game will release on the 18th of September 2020, but apparently pre orders have been streaming in. The fact that this game is only available for a limited time period (up to 31st of March 2021) might play a part in this.

The Half-Genie is Out of the Bottle

Having previously released physical copies of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse and Shantae and the Seven Sirens, Limited Run Games will be re-releasing the original Shantae for the GameBoy Color!

Yes, that’s right. A Game Boy Color cartridge that you can actually play on your GBC. This is a blessing since the original is really hard to come by and regularly auctions for several hundred euros. (There’s currently an eBay auction for €3000,‐.)

Apart from the regular version there’s also going to be a Collector’s Edition which will feature exclusive items, like the OST and an enamel pin.

Pre-orders for both of these will go up on 11th of September 2020, at 10am ET, for a period of four weeks. So, plenty of time to grab a copy.

Retro Studios now hiring Lead Producer for Metroid 4

Exciting news concerning Metroid 4: Retro Studios sent out a tweet yesterday that they are looking for a Lead Developer for this game.

Since Nintendo announced they’d scrapped the project and would start over again in January 2019 there hasn’t been much news, so it’s good to see that development is continuing.
