During the last fiscal year (April 2020 – March 2021) Nintendo sold a whopping 28 million units of the Nintendo Switch. Compare that to the 21 million Switch consoles that were sold in the previous fiscal year. The Switch now has a lifetime sale of almost 85 million units worldwide.
On software side there was obviously also an increase in sales (by 37% compared to the previous fiscal year). The big hitter being Animal Crossing: New Horizons, which sold almost 21 million units.

For a game that’s only been out for just over a year it has already sold 32 million copies. Putting it in hot pursuit of Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, which has been out since the Switch released.
