After the announcement yesterday we got a ton of information in a new Pokémon Direct. If you haven’t seen it, please take a look:
The Crown Tundra is the second area you’ll be able to visit with your expansion pass. In these frozen lands you’ll be tasked with exploring the vast, snowy reaches and the depths of a Pokémon Den. And its release is just around the corner: Thursday the 22nd of October!
In Dynamax Adventures, you’ll team up with three other Trainers to explore a Pokémon Den where Dynamax Pokémon are said to lurk.
Instead of your regular team, you and your fellow trainers will be renting Pokémon to explore the Dens with. The Dynamax Pokémon you encounter on your explorations can, of course be challenged in the familiar Max Raid Battles.
Now, if you win the battle, you’ll have the chance to catch the Pokémon, and one Trainer on the team can swap the newly caught Pokémon in for the Pokémon they had before. But if you lose a battle, you’ll be ejected from the den!
If you want to delve even deeper into the den, Endless Dynamax Adventures may be the thing for you. Endless Dynamax Adventures let you keep on going until you lose a battle.
Make your way into the depths of the Den as you seek the lurking Legendary Pokemon!
Talking about those Legendary Pokémon: every Legendary Pokémon that’s appeared in the main series of Pokémon games will be in the Crown Tundra. And you’ll be able to encounter them on your travels or during your Dynamax Adventures.
NOTE: Some Legendary Pokémon appear only in Pokémon Sword with the Pokémon Sword Expansion Pass, while others appear only in Pokémon Shield with the Pokémon Shield Expansion Pass.
We also got our first look at the Galarian Star Tournament! It’ll be a Double Battle in which you’ll be able to pick a partner from among the many Trainers you’ve met throughout your adventures in Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield—as well as the Expansion Pass.
Now on to an item not shown in the trailer: the Ability Patch. These are very hard to come by in the Crown Tundra, but if you have them you can change the Ability of a Pokémon to its Hidden Ability! (If it has one, of course.)
We got our first look at Galarian Slowking. And it looks amazing, and actually quite sinister as well.
Galarian Slowking, the Hexpert Pokémon, is a Poison / Psychic type and has the Ability Curious Medicine.
A Shellder bite set off a reaction between the chemicals secreted by Galarian Slowpoke’s brain and the spices inside its body, causing Slowpoke to gain the Poison type as it evolved into Galarian Slowking. The Shellder’s intelligence also skyrocketed, giving the Shellder psychic powers that put other Psychic-type Pokémon to shame.
Galarian Slowking’s signature move is Eerie Spell! This Psychic special type move not only damages the opponent, it also reduces the PP of the last move they used by 3!
The Curious Medicine Ability is new. It resets the stat changes of your ally Pokémon when it enters the battlefield.
Another talking point was the connectivity of Pokémon Go with Pokémon Home. Set to be added before the end of the year, you’ll be able to transfer Pokémon from Go to Home (not the other way round).
If you send a Pokémon to Pokémon HOME from Pokémon GO, you’ll receive the Mythical Pokémon Melmetal as a Mystery Gift in Pokémon HOME. This is a special Melmetal that can Gigantimax! (Feeding another Melmetal Gigantimax Soup won’t give it the Gigantimax ability.)
As an additional benefit, if you send a Pokémon to Pokémon HOME from Pokémon GO, you’ll be able to open the Mystery Box in Pokémon GO. Doing so will make the Mythical Pokémon Meltan appear on the map for a limited time.
Information obtained by serebii.net states that after you’ve transferred a Pokémon there will be cool down period. This period can be shortened by paying Pokécoins.
If you haven’t purchased this game yet and are interested, then look no further:
Starting Friday, November 6, you’ll be able to purchase a bundle pack consisting of the Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield base game as well as that game’s corresponding Expansion Pass. All included software comes preloaded on a single game card.
Now for the final bit of information: we can get Pikachu’s wearing Ash’s iconic caps on Pokémon Sword and Shield! These are being distributed by Mystery Gift. And we have two codes already:
Use these steps, along with one of the above passwords, to receive each form of Ash’s Pikachu.
- Launch your Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield game.
- Select Mystery Gift on the X menu.
- Select Get a Mystery Gift.
- Select Get with Code/Password to connect to the internet.
- Enter your password.
- Watch as the gift arrives in your game. (Pokémon will appear in your party or your Pokémon Boxes.)
- Be sure to save your game.
And that’s it, guys! Thanks for reading. Hope you’re as excited as I am.
